The Pangean Timeline

These are the sacred records of Pangea, preserved within the vaults of the Sanctuary. Let none forget the days of creation, nor the fall of the gods, nor the long dark that followed. In these scrolls lie truth — not myth — and memory forged in war. From the awakening of the Life Stones to the return of Satanicus and the final stand at the White Castle, the balance has tipped, returned, and tipped again. May those who walk this path tread carefully, for these are the footsteps of heroes, tyrants, and gods.

In the beginning of time, The King of the Stars gifted Zeus the world and told him to do with it as he chose. Zeus and his fellow gods forged the life stones and scattered them across the great and vast landmass of Pangea. From these stones rose the many demon civilisations of Pangea.

Many thousands of years later, restless and hungry for more power, a god named Typhus stole one of the last of the Life Stones and left the White Castle in search of other worlds. After failing several times to find doors to other worlds, he stumbles upon the Glosphere settlement in the middle of The Great Desert. Consumed with anger, he slaughters many of the citizens and uses their souls to create a bridge which connected our world with another. This bridge became known as The Bridge of Souls.

The brothers, Cordell and Rigus. Rigus is consumed with jealousy because Zeus gifts Cordell the final Life Stone in his possession. In an act of rage, Rigus snatches the Life Stone from Cordell and casts it away from the White Castle. the stone lands in the ocean and from it grows an island which Cordell later turns into The Sanctuary The mighty race of The Sanctorians are born on that day amoungst the lupin fields. The birth of The Sanctuary and its people was witnessed by the creature Martyn. Who saw an opportunity.... Rigus had just been vanquished by Cordell and his body had been cast into the sea where another island formed - The Isle of Thorns - Martyn feasted upon what remained of the soul of Rigus which gave him powers and a true form. He set about passing on darkness to others and preparing the ground for the coming of The Dark Lord.

Over the next five hundred years, the darkness slowly and subtly spreads without anyone noticing. It reaches the realm of the Sabba Lands where the first of the dictators shows his hand. His name is Marcus and his part within this saga cannot be underestimated...

For the first time in their history, The Sanctorians cross the ocean and set foot upon the mainland of Pangea. They meet the lord of Calomere, Stephanos and then, accompanied by his daughter, sail up the mighty River Jarlotte towards The Sabba Lands.

A woman by the name of Marina unites with Marcus and concieves a child... the child. The shadows begin to grow.

Doran, brother of Manu and a Sanctorian blacksmith is the first to forge blades for battle. This is the first time weapons are created for Sanctorian use against other beings.

For the first time in Pangean history, battle commences within the Citadel of The Sabba lands. This is the first time that violence occurs and The Sanctorians who are present realise that they are made for battle even though their existence so far has been one of complete peace.

Following the battle of The Sabba Lands, The Sanctorians decide to bring the now heavily pregnant Marina back to the Sanctuary. Upon her arrival she gives birth to the Dark Lord, Satanicus and the world changes forever.

Realising the significance of the child and the power which seems to radiate from him, the Sanctorians decide to cast him over the edge of The Great Falls

They hope that by destroying the child they can end the creeping darkness.

Whilst the other Santorians dispose of the child, Cordell and is wife, Araminta, go in search of a door which is hidden within the forest to the south of The Sanctuary. Ever since the first day of the Sanctuary, Cordell has carried a key about his neck. He found it upon the ground of the newly grown lupin field. Over the years he has tried to find the door  it belongs to but until now has never been successful. They come across a cavern whose door is the perfect fit for the key. There they discover the gift bestowed to the Sanctuary by the goddess Hera.

The years pass, and the society of the Sanctuary slowly comes to terms with the rising darkness in Pangea. They begin to understand that it must be they who rise up to protect the world. Cordell knows their attempts to destroy the child have failed. The great army—gifted to them by Hera—is released from the cavern, and preparations begin for a war the likes of which no one has ever seen.

The battered and broken ship containing the child, floats south through the vast river networks of Pangea until it comes to the jungles bordering The Great Desert. As the ship passes by, communities feel the power of this creature and darkness fills their minds. The first of Satanicus's followers begin to rise. The ship's journey ends in a dark and stagnant lagoon. Martyn, who is imprisoned within the jungle is waiting to greet the new Dark Lord and takes him to his house

The darkness continues to spread like a virus. The Sanctorian brothers, Manu and Doran travel across Pangea and realise that it is spreading like a virus, infecting towns and villages. People are changing as they await the coming of Satanicus.

Still lurking within the House of Martyn, Satanicus forms his inner circle of followers, the soon to be dreaded, Capritas. They will go on to reek havoc and horror across Pangea over the centuries.

The first all out battle is fought at the southern most city of Scathos. Masshawus takes command of the Sanctorian army. The battle of Scathos marks the first of many battles fought against the forces of darkness for thousands of years. Thoughout this time many are killed, many turn to the darkness but many stand up heroically against the terror of evil.

In the latter stages of the Great Pangean Wars, Satanicus—now near the peak of his power—journeys to the Lagoon of Aphrodite, accompanied by two of his most trusted Capritas: Manu and Doran. Upon arrival, he confronts the goddess Aphrodite (read the extract here). Once she is defeated, he climbs the great stairs to the White Castle, where he engages in a final confrontation with Zeus. Ultimately, Satanicus convinces the King of the Gods to sign a contract, binding him never to interfere in the affairs of Pangea again. Should any god—fallen or otherwise—break the terms of this pact, their powers will vanish, and their very existence will come to an end.

On their walk back south, Satanicus, Doran and Manu come across a witches coven. Satanicus slaughters the witches leaving one survivor: a child who will later become one of the early queens of the Southern Brethren. She vows that the three of them shall be destroyed one day and ensures that this vow in enshrined in her blood so that future witch queens will fulfil the vow she has made.

The wars of Pangea rage on until, Fernando a Sanctorian elder, devises a plan to create a book which has the power to consume the Dark Lord Satanicus. Upon the pages of this book are all of the vile and evil acts Satanicus has committed. During the final battle in The Great Desert, Masshawus stands before Satanicus and opens the book which consumes Satanicus and consumes him. The great wars of Pangea are over but with devastating consequences for the entire world.

Following the fall of Satanicus, it is decided that Generals Masshawus and Olson should lead a party to the final hide out of the remaining Capritas. They find themselves trapped within a valley and are ambushed. Katrina, the wife of Masshawus, gives birth to a pair of twins but is then struck by arrows and killed. Consumed with rage, Masshawus chases after his wife's killers. He enters the temple of the Capritas and slays Mirth, the head of the Capritas. However, in doing so he becomes consumed with the darkness and turns on his friend Olson, killing him and inturn becoming the new head of the Capritas.

The battle of the valley comes to a close and the Sanctorian warrior, Moyels, discovers one of the infants (the other is hidden beneath a cloth.). He and the surviving Sanctorians head back to The Sanctuary filled with mixed emotions about what had come to pass. They are anaware that Masshawus has turned.

Not long after the Sanctorians leave, a Capritas by the name of Mandrake rises from the debris and stumbles across the second child. He gathers it up and takes it back to the temple where, to his surprise, Masshawus now holds court. Masshawus orders Mandrake to take the child to Martyn who still resides in the jungles north of The Great Desert.

The Sanctorians return to find that the Sanctuary is changing. Due to the contract that Zeus signed, Cordell can no longer interfere with life and has become withdrawn. In his place a new and younger generation have risen up the ranks led by Kartosak. He immediately expels Manu and Doran for their previous associations with Satanicus. Despite it being the direct descendent of Masshawus, the child is sent out into Pangea. Fernando orders Moyels and Lexium to be the child's guardians and to continue to keep watch on the blood line.

Mandrake has left the second child with Martyn who will cultivate the bloodline until it is strong enough to assist Masshawus in reserrecting Satanicus. He has named the bloodline: Adule.

Martyn sends Mandrake to the desert to locate the ancient Glosphere site which has remained hidden behind a shield cast by the remaining Glosphere tribe. They are the guardians of The Bridge of Souls. Martyn hopes that Mandrake will cross the bridge and bring back Typhus who will help the cause.

Mandrake manages to break through the Glosphere shield and crosses The Bridge of Souls. The Glospheres seal the entrance behind him and Mandrake is not seen for many millions of years.

Unbeknown to him, when Mandrake broke through the shield, a small child, Arla, managed to escape. Once she left she could not return and she was doomed to wondering the earth until she was later found.

The world turns, the demon world begins to fade and the humans begin to appear. The remaining Pangeans have a saying... "The world is weakening..."

As Zeus's grip upon the world weakens, the plates which made up Pangea begin to break apart.

The new race of Human Kind develop quickly and the demon world creeps into the shadows, shameful of their troubled past.

For millions of years the human world grows. The fight wars and conquer one another but few are aware of their true history.

All the while Masshawus and his followers bide their time, growing their army and awaiting the return of his servant Mandrake. He watches over the blood line of Adule with greedy eyes and he prays that the day will soon come for he and his followers to strike.

It is not until the humans engage in their third world war that the agents of Masshawus realise their chance. Martyn is instrumentmental in this.

At the close of the war, Martyn and Sallah Adule orchestrate a mass killing of the three main proponants of the Third War: America, China and Russia. The humans are led to believe that those countries have been struck by a terrible biological attack and those countries boarders are closed.

Now that the Third War had ended, the human race fell into an unprecedented period of peace, innovation and development. This period was known as the Green Boom

It was during this time that a mysterious Agency with no name came to be. Some believe that it was Fernando's influence - he felt strongly that Satanicus would return. The man to run that agency is General Adams a wise veteran of the Third War. Some believe that his long life has something to do with him possessing demon blood.

Fifty years following the Third War, Rosalina succeeds her mother in taking the crown and becomes the Queen of The Southern Brethren of Witches. She still possesses the vow her great ancestor spoke to Manu and Doran.

Just under 100 years following the Third War, Michael Shaw is born - the final descendent of the line of Masshawus and he is still under the watchful gaze of Moyels and Lexium.

Shaw and his friends, Tom, Allan and Claire, join the agency and prove to be extremely effective agents.
